I love my breakfast! It is my favourite meal of the day. I really enjoy coming down to the kitchen in the morning and cooking a nice breakfast. It sets me up for the rest of the day. There are many benefits of eating breakfast. So many people skip this meal but I strongly recommend taking the time to eat a nutritious breakfast. It will help you start the day in a healthy way.

Benefits of eating breakfast:

Apart from providing us with energy, breakfast foods are good sources of important nutrients such as calcium, iron and B vitamins as well as protein and fibre. The body needs these essential nutrients and research shows that if these are missed at breakfast, they are less likely to be compensated for later in the day.

Breakfast is good for people who are trying to lose weight. It has been proven that those who eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight and more likely to be within their ideal weight range compared with people who skip breakfast. If you skip breakfast, you’re more likely to reach for high sugar and fatty snacks mid-morning. Eating breakfast also provides your metabolism with a boost, allowing your body to start burning calories instantly.

One of the other benefits of eating breakfast is that it restores glucose levels. Glucose is an essential carbohydrate that is needed for the brain to function. Research has shown that eating breakfast can improve memory and concentration levels. The brain needs energy to work at full potential and eating a nutritious breakfast provides this energy first thing in the morning.

Improved mood is one of my favourite benefits of eating breakfast. A good breakfast can put you in a positive mood for the rest of the day. The nutrients in a healthy breakfast boost your happy hormones and taking the time to sit down to eat can reduce stress and improve your mood.
